50 mile

The race begins at Montebello Campground (15072 Crabtree Falls Hwy. Montebello, VA  24464). The course proceeds South on Hwy 56 for ½ mile, turns right onto Fish Hatchery Ln.  The course follows Fish Hatchery Ln over to Spy Rock Rd and follows Spy Rock Rd for ½ mile and switches onto the old jeep road past the forest gate up to Porters Ridge. From Porters Ridge the course turns right and follows the blue blaze 731 Lovingston Spring Trail for approx. 4 miles to FS 1176.  Course follows FS 1176 for 1.5 miles to Salt Log Gap. From SLG course continues on FS 1176 for 3 miles to Mt. Pleasant National Scenic Area and takes Blue Blaze 515 Hotel Trail for approx. 3 miles to Cow Camp Gap. From Cow Camp the course follows old unnamed jeep road down mountain for approx. 1 mile to the forest gate at FS 520. Course turns left and follows FS 520 for approx. 5 miles to Hwy 60 Long Mountain Wayside.  Course continues across Hwy 60 and follows Swapping Camp Road south approximately 3.5 miles to the AT parking area. From here the course returns back to Long Mountain Wayside and then on FS 520 for the next 5.2 miles to FS 48.  On FS 48 course turns right and proceed past Hog Camp Gap to the Mount Pleasant National Scenic Area where it makes a 5.3 mile loop (Course turns right onto Wiggins Spring Road and returns to Mount Pleasant National Scenic area where it makes a 5.3 mile loop counterclockwise (approximately 2.5 miles into the loop turn right onto spur trail up to the summit and returning to the loop continuing by turning right and traveling approximately 2.5 miles back to the parking area.)  At the end of this loop, course leaves the parking area, turns right on a dirt road FS 1176 and follows around the mountain 3 miles to Salt Log Gap. At S.L.G. you take FS 1176 for one mile.  From FS 1176, you turn left and follow gravel road up 1/2 mile and turn right onto the Lovingston Springs Trail road and follow to the burnt out smashed camper; follow the Lovingston Spring Trail up over Elk Pond mountain to Porters Ridge then turn left and follow the old jeep road. At the blue forest gate turn right following the jeep road which takes you to the Montebello Fish Hatchery and Hwy. 56.  At Hwy. 56, the course turns left and follows Hwy 56 for 1/2 mile to finish at Montebello Campground.
